Ray Gurney recently bought this at auction in Sydney.
No makers marks, originally painted black. 15" between centres.
3.5" to bed (twin 1.125" ground bars)
Leadscrew and nose 0.75" X 10. Single split bronze head bearings.
Correspondence with Tony at Home of the Lathe (a great reference site), revealed that was a home grown Hercus Hobby lathe, manuf. In Adelaide between 1933-39.
Another version was backgeared, with full split bearings and a different saddle/crossfeed.
